An orientation to Rhodium Law, the clients we serve, and what to expect before you schedule a first conversation.

Andrew C. Goodwin, founding attorney of Rhodium Law

You do not need to know the name of the legal service you need before contacting Rhodium Law. You may have a family to protect, a business decision to make, a property transaction ahead, or a responsibility that arrived after someone died. Start with what is happening. The Team at Rhodium Law will help identify the appropriate path.

What kind of law firm is Rhodium Law?

Rhodium Law is coordinated private-client counsel for established families, closely held business owners, professionals, investors, fiduciaries, and older adults across Ohio. The firm focuses on planning, transactions, administration, and ongoing advisory relationships. That includes estate planning, business law, estate and trust administration, elder law, real-estate law, asset protection, and related nonprofit work.

The common thread is coordination. A business interest belongs in the owner’s estate plan. Real estate affects ownership, liability, tax, and succession. Long-term-care planning can change the way a family protects and transfers property. Rhodium Law looks across those connections and works with the client’s existing CPA, financial advisor, insurance professionals, and other counsel when the matter requires it.

Who the firm is built to serve

Rhodium Law is generally best suited to clients who want judgment, strategy, and a defined professional engagement rather than a one-off document service. The firm often works with:

  • Business owners who need counsel for the company and the family wealth connected to it.
  • Professionals and established families who want an estate plan coordinated with the way they own, invest, and give.
  • Real-estate investors and owners handling acquisitions, sales, leases, exchanges, holding structures, or trust funding.
  • Executors, administrators, and trustees carrying an uncontested estate or trust administration.
  • Older adults and families planning proactively for long-term care or addressing an urgent Medicaid-planning need.
  • Nonprofit founders and boards that need formation and governance counsel.

Rhodium Law does not handle litigation or contested disputes. When an existing client’s matter requires separate litigation or specialty counsel, the firm can help identify the issue, coordinate the handoff, and remain involved in an advisory capacity when appropriate.

If more than one row fits, that is normal. The Strategy Session exists in part to help identify which engagement should come first and how the pieces may be coordinated.

What happens when you contact Rhodium Law?

  1. Book a complimentary Strategy Session. This is a brief conversation with Intake Services to understand why you are reaching out, confirm basic fit, and identify the appropriate next step. It is not legal advice.
  2. Complete the requested intake information. Clear background information helps Rhodium Law prepare the right consultation and avoid asking you to repeat the same story.
  3. Meet for the appropriate paid consultation. Estate planning begins with a Vision Meeting. Business-law matters may move to a Clarity Session. Real-estate matters may move to a Cornerstone Call. Elder-law matters may move to a Stewardship Session. Estate and trust administration begins with an Estate Briefing.
  4. Receive a defined recommendation and scope. If Rhodium Law can assist, the engagement agreement explains the work, the flat fee, the responsibilities on each side, and any work that may require another professional.
  5. Move forward in coordination. The Team manages the legal work and, when authorized, communicates with the other advisors whose input the plan or transaction requires.

How to prepare for the first conversation

You do not need to assemble a perfect file before the Strategy Session. It is helpful to know the basic facts, the people involved, any upcoming deadline, and what a good outcome would look like. If the matter involves an existing document, contract, court notice, trust, will, deed, or entity record, keep it available for the later legal consultation. Do not send confidential or time-sensitive material until Rhodium Law has confirmed how it should be submitted.

How Rhodium Law charges

Rhodium Law primarily uses flat-fee engagements with a defined scope. The fee depends on the work and is explained before the engagement begins. Because matters with similar labels can require different planning, coordination, and responsibility, fees are discussed after the firm understands the scope.

The Strategy Session is complimentary. When a paid legal consultation is the appropriate next step, Intake Services explains its purpose and fee before you book.

What coordinated counsel does, and does not, mean

Coordinated counsel means Rhodium Law takes responsibility for the legal work it agrees to handle, sees how that work connects to the client’s larger picture, and helps coordinate the right professionals. It does not mean every possible legal, tax, financial, or contested matter is performed inside one firm.

Where separate counsel or another licensed professional is needed, Rhodium Law can help frame the issue, communicate the relevant context, and keep the work aligned. Clients gain one accountable relationship without being told that one lawyer can or should do everything.
